Well its something that rarely happens to PS2`s, But when it does we all think ''Oh nuts, Well, my ps2 is screwed i guess'' Iv seen at least a dozen for sale on eBay because of this error. Heres how to fix it.
Required Tools:
#Pliers
#Soldering Iron
#Solder
#Needlenose Pliers
#Screwdriver
#A small LED (any kind)
Start off by opening up the PS2 and locateing the sensor in the back of it that reads when the disctray is opened and closed, it should be a small button.
When you locate it, Take the pliers and rip the switch completelly away and you should see 4 little dots (solder points) on the inside of the PS2 where the switch used to be.
Now its time to get the LED out. Take the LED and cut it just enough so that the metal can reach between two of the little connectors.
Take the needlenose pliers and hold down the small peice of metal, while its heild down in place. Secure it to two of the points inside of there and be sure to TRIPLE check that you have it in the right place, you Do NOT wonna make a mistake when doing this.
Closeup scan of the finished results:
After soldering the two points together press down the sensor at the front of the PS2 to see if it tries to read a disc, If it does, then you should be good to go! (Note: if it still doesnt read, then it means the sensor at the front of the PS2 isnt makeing contact with the lid of the PS2 when its shut and you have to either tape it down or hold it down with your finger so it reads the disctray as closed.
Extra fun:
When doing this you can also make an off switch for your slimline. As part of the switch in the back, when all 4 of the circuts make contact and the disctray is shut, it will automatically shut off the PS2. So if you want to make a switch that connects all 4 of the solderpoints, you can make a unique and fun offswitch for the slimline. But DO NOT doit unless you are heavially experienced in electronics and know what your doing.
For those of you who cant locate where is what, Use this:

Hope this helps a few of you with some errors in the disctray not reading as shut, or at least save some money on people buying ps2`s error`d on eBay. Enjoy!
